A Washington state, 78 year-old grandmother has been hailed a hero for holding a man at gunpoint after he tried to burglarize her house.
The gun-toting gran - known only as 'Sandy' - was inside her Spanaway home on Sunday night when her dog, Booboo, began barking.
“At the moment, I was scared to death, I really was,” the 78-year-old, who gave the name Sandy, told KIRO News about an incident Sunday night in which she woke up to her dog, Booboo, barking nonstop and found herself face to face with a home intruder according to the Washington Examiner.
“And we looked at each for a few minutes, and he turned and started to leave,” Sandy explained. “And I said, ‘Oh, no you don’t. You stay right there.’ And I reached over and got my shotgun, and I cocked it, and I told him to stay right there because he was going to turn and walk away.”
Sandy, who says she was calm after cornering the intruder and even joked that she has grandchildren his age, then told the man to go outside and sit on the steps, where she then waited for the police to come and arrest him.
“After he was so meek and mild and sat down like I told him to do — empowering! I felt like at least I was in charge. I wasn’t afraid,” Sandy said.
